A book dubbed one of the Best Romance Novels of 2020 has now made its way to Ethereal Storybooks and wow. This story explores what happens when a wedding planner gets left at the altar and falls in love with her ex fiancé’s best man….his brother. This was a twist on the enemies-to-lovers plot that was an unexpected yet welcome change. Keep reading to find out why I believe its worth being one of your end of the year reads.

Overall Ethereal Score
Originality 5/5

Carolina “Lina” Santos is a wedding planner who was left at the altar by her ex fiancé and had the news delivered by his brother, Max Hartley. However, fate would not be so kind to have him completely disappear from her life. When the pair unexpectedly meet again for an amazing job opportunity, the reward is too great to risk whatever bad blood remains from the past. Unexpected feelings arise between the two and beg the question if a love relationship can flourish despite every reason they should not be together. It was a true rollercoaster that you read with both eyes open. I thoroughly enjoyed the entrenchment of Brazilian culture from Lina’s family. They brought the spice, personality, and family element to the story besides Max and his brother. Not to mention made me crave Brazilian cuisine. The sprinkle of Portuguese was welcome and different. The plot is problematic and a touch unrealistic but also possible, because life is funny like that.

H.O.B (highlights of the book)

Filled with Brazilian cultural references

Interesting plot that’s highly problematic in popular culture

Steamy, romantic, well written

I was torn by this book, on one hand I was rooting for this couple. On the other hand, I was hoping they would not end up together. I encourage you all to read it and discuss the general plot with friends, family, even coworkers. It makes for an enlivened conversation about loyalty and dating as grown adults. Leave a comment below on what your thoughts are on the book and if you’ve read any of Mia Sosa’s novels before. She is a force in the romance world, and I am excited to read more of her work.

Happy Reading Friends and Happy Holidays!

Love,

E
